All-rounder Andrew Flintoff is set to return to action for England in the third one day international of the ongoing five-match series against West Indies.
Flintoff suffered a hip injury that forced him out of final two Tests in the recently concluded Test series against the Caribbean side. He subsequently flew back to England to receive treatment and re-joined the squad in time for the one-off Twenty20 International against the two sides.
England lost the Test series and the one-off Twenty20 International. Flintoff’s arrival will bolster the England attack after it lost the second ODI by 21 runs. The ODI series is currently tied at 1-1 with the third game scheduled for Friday.
“I've bowled as near to 100% as I probably can do in a net because playing in a match brings a bit more out of you," Flintoff was quoted at saying at Barbados.
"I've been bowling for the last week, bowled 10 overs over the previous two days and done my training and work. I was close to playing on Sunday but we erred on the side of caution and I'll definitely be fit for Friday."
In the meanwhile, West Indies has added two players to its squad for the next two ODIs. Dale Richards comes into the side for Devon Smith while Daren Powell makes way for Ravi Rampaul.
