Watch cricket highlights of 1st test - India vs New Zealand - Day 1’s play from Hamilton, played on March 18, 2009.
Scoreline: New Zealand 279 all out - Daniel Vettori 118, Jesse Ryder 102. Ishanth Sharma 4 wickets. Munaf Patel 3 wickets.
India 29/0
Two sessions to either side. Vettori strangely took charge of the run-scoring while Ryder displayed yet another aspect to his ever-increasing girth reputation. The Indian field settings were set more to Ryder’s recent than the existing situation. But a super knock by the both batsmen. Ryder eventually pulled out his innate game when on 99 with an unconvincing Chris Martin at the other end - he clouted Ishanth Sharma for a six to get to his debut hundred.
Sehwag hammered out 5 boundaries during the short Indian outing and that was that on Day 1.
Note: If you’re a club cricketer, there’s an interesting concept on offer from the people at www.cricket-blog.com. A new site - www.criciwiki.com - lets you create your own club site. As of now, it’s in beta-mode, and there’s a 1-year-Free offer as long as you get going before March 31. For more details on this, head over there and contact them directly.
